Signs Your CertainTeed Attic Insulation Is Failing

• Uneven temperature zones between rooms. The hallway stays comfortable but the back bedroom bakes. This usually means the InsulSafe SP has migrated toward the eaves or settled away from the center of the attic, leaving the top plates above exterior walls practically uninsulated.

Here’s what you can safely check yourself: measure current insulation depth with a ruler at three attic locations, photograph any product labels you find, and look for obvious gaps or compressed areas. Do not disturb vermiculite insulation, it may contain asbestos, and if your home was built before 1990, stop and call for testing.

Where DIY goes wrong: blowing new fiberglass over old without sealing first creates a double layer of leaky insulation, the R-value on the bag assumes an intact air barrier. Most homeowners also underestimate the ventilation math, blocking soffit intakes with new material and creating moisture problems six months later.
